Why Are So Many Schertz AC Systems Past 20 Years Old?
Schertz had 18,694 residents in 2000 and 42,002 by 2020. Most homes went up during that run, so a large share of the AC systems in town are original equipment from the early 2000s and are now past 20 years old.
- AC repair: a typical call is a system moving too little air, fixed by replacing the blower motor, cleaning the blower wheel and rebuilding the supply plenum so air reached the rooms again.
- AC tune-ups: Older systems are where a tune-up pays off most.
- AC replacement and heat pumps: when a 20-year-old system keeps failing, we’ll lay out repair and replacement side by side. Financing is available, and our Price Assurance Guarantee lets you bring a competitor’s estimate on qualifying installs.
- Heating: heater repair, maintenance and replacement for furnaces and heat pumps.
Why Does Foundation Repair Start With The Plumbing?
Foundation repair is common across Schertz and Cibolo, and it usually starts with the plumbing. We ran 109 hydrostatic tests in Schertz and Cibolo this year.
- Pre-test. Before the foundation crew lifts the house, we pressure-test the drain lines under the slab. Any leak we find gets repaired first, so it doesn’t undermine the new work.
- Repairs. When a line under the slab is broken, we can often tunnel under the foundation to reach it instead of cutting through your floors.
- Post-test. After the lift, we test again, because moving a slab can crack pipes that tested fine before.
For leaks outside of foundation work, see leak detection and slab leak repair.

After Cibolo Creek Floods
Cibolo Creek runs through Schertz and forms the Guadalupe and Bexar county line. In July 2026 the city declared a disaster and ordered evacuations along the creek. If floodwater reached your outdoor AC unit, water heater or gas appliances, have them checked before you run them. Water in the electrical components can do more damage once the system starts.
